Las Vegas, NV – Victim of Fatal Pedestrian Accident On East Kimberly Avenue Identified
Las Vegas, NV (April 18, 2019) – Authorities earlier confirmed that a man and his dog were struck by a vehicle in the early hours of Saturday morning. The accident happened at the intersection of East Kimberly Avenue and South Steptoe Street, near East Tropicana and Boulder Highway. Officials arrived around 5:10 a.m.
The vehicle involved in the accident was a Chevrolet Sonic that was traveling east on Kimberly when the crash occurred. The victim was walking across the street with his dog when both were struck by the vehicle.
Officials have confirmed the identity of the victim to be Las Vegas resident Donald Mercer.
Both the man and his dog were hit and suffered catastrophic injuries. Paramedics pronounced the man and his dog dead at the scene.
The driver showed signs of impairment at the scene and was detained under the suspicion of DUI.
The case is under investigation, and more information will be released in the future.
