Las Vegas, Nevada (June 30, 2019)
Authorities released information pertaining to a crash that occurred in the southwest valley on Saturday morning which led to the critical injury of a woman.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan police, the incident occurred at the intersection of West Tropicana Avenue and South Jones Boulevard around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 29.
Daniel Lujan, 30, was driving a 2013 Buick Verano and was stopped at a red light at the time of the crash near the southbound lanes on Jones Boulevard. Carolina Cervantez-Solis, 25, was driving a 2017 Honda Civic when she struck the Buick from the rear with such force that the Buick was skid into the intersection before it was able to come to a complete stop.
Solis’ Honda circled around counterclockwise as a result of the crash and had to slide to a stop in the intersection as well. Solis was transported to the hospital. Police have confirmed she sustained life-threatening injuries as a result.
Lujan suffered only minor injuries but did stay at the scene of the accident until police arrived. Police indicated that Solis appeared to be impaired at the time of the crash.
