Las Vegas, NV-2 Suffer Smoke Inhalation From Barbeque Fire E. Valley
Las Vegas, Nevada (June 17, 2019)
A fire that took place in east Valley late Sunday evening around 10:15 p.m. caused 7 people in that neighborhood to be displaced and 2 to suffer smoke inhalation with injuries.
Both Las Vegas and Clark County Firefighters were called to the scene of a home fire at the 2000 block of Bonita Avenue. A covered patio that was on the side of a one-story home was in flames, and the fire also spread to the home next door. It took firefighters a bit over 10 minutes to put out both fires.
Before the firefighters arrived at the scene a neighbor and one of the residents of the home that the fire started in attempted to use garden hoses to put out the flames. In the process, both individuals suffered from smoke inhalation. After crews arrived, each individual was treated at the location. It is unclear if there were any burn injuries related to the fire.
The investigation produced information leading to a homemade barbeque as the cause of the fire. The two properties suffered damages that are estimated to be about $50,000. Additionally, 6 adults and one teenager were displaced and the American Red Cross was providing aid to them.
